Many of us here at interACT have been very affected by the horrific events in Charlottesville, Virginia. We are aware of how often instances of racism, anti-semitism, bigotry, and hatred occur each day in this country, and we recognize that we have our own work to do. Witnessing such a public display of white supremacy and violence this past weekend shows how important it is for people and organizations who are fighting for equity to band together and resist this behavior. We denounce and reject white supremacy. We vehemently oppose racism, anti-semitism, bigotry, and hatred in all of its forms. Intersex people are of every race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, class, and background, and we strive to work in solidarity to protect the rights of all in our diverse community.

The actions in Charlottesville prove that those in power would not hesitate to act against any who oppose them. We will continue to fight against the degradation, isolation, and oppression of people in our community, especially people of color, Jewish and Muslim people, Latinx people, disabled people, immigrants, LGBTQI people, and any others who are targeted by this aggression. We will resist this violence, and we will work to create a safer and more accepting world for all those who are oppressed.

In Solidarity,

interACT: Advocates for Intersex Youth
